Artistic director and conductor of the Ensemble Ariolica, conductor of the Pays de Gex orchestra and the Ensemble Orchestral de Champagnole, the Pontarlier Symphony orchestra and the Arcus Caeli orchestra of Meyrin-Geneva.

Pierre Tréfeil began conducting at the age of 17. After four years of study in the classes of Hervé Klopfenstein and Jean Balissat at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Lausanne, he brilliantly obtained a professional diploma in conducting and orchestration.

Very interested in the interpretation of ancient music, he benefited from the advice of William Christie and David Moroney. He also works with chefs Ernst Schelle and Jean-Marc Cochereau.

Pierre Tréfeil addresses symphonic, lyrical and choral repertoires, and also develops a significant openness to shows with theater, jazz, pop and variety. He leads numerous orchestras of young musicians, professionals and amateurs and has experience of more than 600 concerts.

His musical activities have taken him to France, Switzerland, England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Finland, Brazil and Mozambique.

Great soloists have praised his musical qualities and the precision of his direction, such as: Pierre Amoyal, Patrice Fontanarosa, Laurent Korcia, Didier Lockwood, Maurice André, Marion Bagland, Bernard Soustrot, Michel Tirabosco, Lucienne Renaudin-Vary and many more. other artists who are themselves very talented.

Recently, on March 5, 2022, Ms. Annie Genevard presented Pierre Tréfeil with the medal of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, in recognition of an already very long career, led with professionalism, passion and unfailing commitment to both professional musicians and young musicians or adult amateurs.

Pierre Tréfeil's high standards and kindness are two qualities unanimously recognized by the people who have the chance to work and learn with him.

It was at the Pontarlier conservatory in the class of Elie Dupont that Johnny Zefferini began his musical studies. He continued at the Besançon conservatory in Paulette Verstraeten's class and obtained numerous gold medals in violin, music theory and chamber music. He then perfected his skills at the Geneva Conservatory in the class of master Corrado Romano, where, after 5 years, he will be rewarded by obtaining a professional studies diploma.

Holder of a CA as a violin teacher and recognized pedagogue, he was a professor at the Annecy Conservatory and currently teaches at the Ferney-Voltaire Conservatory.

Several of his former students pursue brilliant careers, Omer Bouchez (first violin of the Hermès quartet), Sylvain Favre (Van Kuijk quartet) and others in prestigious ensembles (Lausanne chamber orchestra, orchestra of Swiss Romande, opera of Marseille...).

Member first of the Besançon orchestra, then of the Geneva chamber orchestra as well as co-soloist of the Neuchatel chamber orchestra, he played under the direction of the greatest conductors

(Jean-Claude Casedesus, Michel Tabachnick, Michel Corboz, Pierre Cao, Yoel Levy, ...).

Co-founding member and concertmaster since 1976 of the Ariolica ensemble, he created in 2011 with Stéphane Ganard on piano and Christophe Oudot on cello the Festoso trio with which they explore and introduce the public to the vast and rich repertoire of the piano trio. (Haydn, Beethoven, Dvorak, Schubert, Brahms, Sostakovitch...).

They also created in June 2019 in Pontarlier the trio “paysages” by Swiss composer Blaise Mettraux.
